food, all while juggling everything else that’s going on in your life.
But model, mother, and businesswoman, Elle Macpherson, takes the definition of a healthy lifestyle to the max, and makes the difficult sound like an absolute cinch.
The 54-year-old revealed her wellbeing routine in her latest interview with NewBeauty, and boy, to say it’s intense would be an understatement.
She starts her day with a 5.a.m wakeup call, in which she then relaxes and heals the mind and body with “a guided meditation” or “hands-on Reiki.” She treats her morning ritual as the 10-20 minutes to “just breathe”, and refrains from checking her phone or answering emails.
The Aussie model then fuels her body with a soaked chia pudding, and has ditched her morning coffee for “hot water and lemon.”
She admits that her “raw, plant-based diet” makes her feel her best.
“As far as animal products are concerned, I’ll have a poached egg every now and then, some Parmesan cheese and goat cheese, but they’re not staples of my diet.”
Combined with her clean AF diet, comes a very healthy and holistic approach to life.
The mother-of-two (yes, we would love that body when we have kids, thanks) is also big on yoga, and can’t get enough of spending time at the beach.
“I do Vinyasa yoga or power yoga, or go for a swim, go paddle boarding or waterskiing, or take the dogs for a walk.”
In fact, she explains the simple trick to relieve bloating and help tone her body is all done in the ocean.
“If I’m lucky enough to be by the sea, I think walking in seawater is one of the best things I can do for my body,” she said.
“It tones the legs and waist, it’s great for minerals, and if you have any water retention, it’s a great diuretic. I walk in about thing-high deep or knee-deep water for 40 minutes to an hour.”
And when she’s not practicing yoga or walking in seawater, she’s relaxing in her in-home sauna (which also helps reverse sun damage).
“I can’t do lasers because I live in the sun, which compounds the issue, so that’s out of the question. But I’ve been using an infrared sauna at home for about a year and a half.
“I try to do it every day for an hour. I’ll watch TV in there or do a meditation or a phone call.”
But we all know looking 25 at 54 doesn’t just come with a healthy diet or calming wellness routine – it involves a laborious beauty routine, too.
To keep her skin smooth and silky all year round, Macpherson swears by dry brushing her body before or after taking a shower.
“You can watch how to do it on YouTube. Basically, it’s circular movements toward your heart, from your fingertips and your toes.”
But it doesn’t stop there, because if you’re Elle Macpherson, you can’t take a shower like every other ordinary person.
“In the shower, I do about three cycles of switching hot and cold water. You can feel your body start tingling; it’s so good for your lymphatics and circulatory system, and such an easy thing to do.”
We think we’ll live with our dry winter skin and leave the cold showers for summer, thanks.
